The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has awarded Middletown-based Rite-Solutions a $243 million contract to develop cutting-edge solutions for future combat systems.

Announced on May 1, this five-year Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III contract is the biggest Rite-Solutions has ever received. The goal is to boost mission effectiveness while streamlining manning levels and cutting life-cycle costs for naval combat systems.

The Combat Systems of the Future (CSoF) project aims to upgrade functionality and capabilities for current and upcoming ship platforms, including both on-board and off-hull systems. It will use systems engineering to create cost-effective improvements in modeling, simulation, testing, and integration.

The focus will be on new submarine platforms, like the Next-Generation Attack Submarine (SSN(X)), supporting tech innovations, acquisition, R&D, design, and evaluation.

Mike Miller is taking the helm as CSoF Director and Program Manager, coordinating work between Rite-Solutions and nearly 20 industry partners.
