Newport Classical’s Executive Director, Gillian Fox, will become the next President and CEO of the Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, N.Y., starting June 9.

Fox, who has led Newport Classical since 2021, will work with the Board and staff to ensure a smooth transition through the start of the Music Festival. She’ll return on July 5 to celebrate her tenure on Opening Night.

The Board of Directors has started the process for a national search to find Newport Classical’s next Executive Director.

Under Fox’s leadership, Newport Classical expanded beyond its annual summer Music Festival to include year-round programming. In 2021, the organization established a new home at Emmanuel Church on Dearborn Street and opened the Newport Classical Recital Hall.

Newport Classical Board President Suzanna Laramee praised Fox’s contributions: “In her four and a half years with us, Gillian has worked tirelessly with the Board and staff to bring our organization international recognition through outstanding artistry and organizational stability.”

The organization now offers a Chamber Series bringing world-class musicians to downtown Newport, as well as a Community Concerts Series providing free performances for families in their neighborhoods.

Since 2021, the Music Education and Engagement Initiative has enriched the lives of over 2,500 children through in-school and community programs.

“It has been a true honor to lead Newport Classical at this remarkable moment in its history,” said Fox. “This is a magical organization – one that presents truly one-of-a-kind concerts and is supported by an extraordinarily vibrant and passionate community of music lovers. I am deeply grateful for the meaningful relationships I’ve built over the past four and a half years – with the dedicated and talented Board of Directors, the creative and committed staff, and the many generous supporters and patrons. I am especially thankful for the partnership, friendship, and inspiring leadership of Board President Suzanna Laramee and Vice President Steve Huttler. Thank you for welcoming my family and me into this extraordinary community. We will always cherish our time here.”

Tickets are now available for the 2025 Newport Classical Music Festival, running from July 4-22. The lineup includes performances by pianists Alessio Bax and Lucille Chung, Broadway star Jessica Vosk, and violinist Stefan Jackiw with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
