Good morning, Newport! Today is Thursday, July 10, the 191st day of 2025. There are 174 days left in the year. International Tennis Hall of Famer Virginia Wade turns 80 today.
🚨 You need to know
Mother Nature has once again disrupted play at the Hall of Fame Open, with tournament officials announcing Thursday morning that gates will not open until 11 a.m. and match play has been pushed back to no earlier than 12 p.m. due to ongoing weather concerns. This marks the second consecutive day that inclement conditions have affected the prestigious grass court tournament at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
The delays come after Wednesday’s action was suspended around 5 p.m., leaving several matches incomplete across the tournament’s six courts. Officials are working to reschedule the remaining early round matches that were halted by rain, along with the highly anticipated Round of 16 singles matches featuring 2023 Hall of Fame Open champion Adrian Mannarino and former World No. 54 Caty McNally.
The weather disruptions have compressed an already busy tournament schedule, with organizers now facing the challenge of completing suspended matches while maintaining the planned quarterfinal action. Top seed Tatjana Maria, who advanced Wednesday with her victory over Yuriko Miyazaki, awaits her Friday quarterfinal against Sayaka Ishii, while men’s No. 5 seed Eliot Spizzirri also looks ahead to his first Hall of Fame Open quarterfinal appearance.
Tournament officials encourage fans to stay updated on the latest scheduling changes through the Hall of Fame Open’s website and social media channels, as conditions continue to be monitored throughout the day. Live coverage remains available on Facebook, Instagram, and the Tennis One App once play resumes.
