Good morning, Newport!

🗓️ Today is Sunday, July 27, the 208th day of 2025. There are 157 days left in the year.

🚨 You need to know

The 401 Tech Bridge will host BlueTIDE 2025, a premier maritime technology demonstration event, on Thursday, Aug. 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Sail Newport and the Narragansett Bay Test Facility in Newport.

The event, presented in partnership with the U.S. Navy, NavalX and the Northeast Tech Bridge, will showcase cutting-edge ocean technologies including autonomous undersea and surface vehicles, mobile sensors, undersea communications systems and high-resolution imaging equipment. More than 30 companies from the U.S. and international markets are expected to participate in live, in-water demonstrations designed to test and validate next-generation maritime solutions.

“BlueTIDE 2025 exemplifies our mission to accelerate dual-use innovation by bringing together the brightest minds in maritime technology,” said Christian Cowan, executive director of Polaris MEP and 401 Tech Bridge. “This event is more than a showcase — it’s a proving ground where ideas meet mission needs, and where collaboration drives real-world impact for national security and the blue economy.”

The demonstration will feature participating companies deploying their technologies in Navy-designed mission scenarios, providing real-time data collection and operational feedback. Companies will present their innovations in categories including autonomous vehicles, sensor systems, communications platforms and imaging technology. Notable participants include HavocAI, Vatn Systems, HyperKelp, Charles River Analytics and SubC Control Limited.

Building on the success of BlueTIDE 2024, which attracted more than 400 innovators and generated over one terabyte of operational data, this year’s event aims to connect defense leaders, industry executives, venture investors and researchers focused on maritime innovation partnerships and funding opportunities. Registration information is available at 401techbridge.org/bluetide.
