Rogers High School’s softball team put on a show Tuesday night at Toppa Field, beating Middletown 10-2 in a game that was closer than the final score suggests.

The Vikings held a tight 3-1 lead for much of the game before their bats came alive late, blowing it open against their crosstown rivals.

Freshman pitcher Lila Leys was the star of the show. She struck out 15 batters and drove in four runs, leading both the offensive and defensive charge for Rogers.

Middletown’s offense struggled to get anything going against Leys, managing just two runs all night. The game stayed close until the final innings when Rogers piled on the runs to seal the win.
