Corinthian Yacht Club of Marblehead, Massachusetts, won its third consecutive Resolute Cup on Saturday, closing out the regatta at the New York Yacht Club’s Harbour Court with 68 points.

The win was not comfortable. Corinthian had led by 11 points entering the final day’s three double-point medal races, sailed among the top 12 clubs. A fifth in the first race cut into that, and in the second the team rounded the opening mark in last place, briefly putting San Diego Yacht Club ahead on the water.

“We made it stressful at the end with three medal races, and the second one we rounded the top mark in last,” said skipper Wade Waddell. “We had to battle back.”

Main trimmer Doug Sabin said the crew worked out to the left side of the course, caught a shift and climbed back into the middle of the fleet. An eighth there against San Diego’s third left the two clubs effectively tied going into the last race. Corinthian rounded the first mark in front and finished third to San Diego’s fifth, enough for the title.

San Diego was second overall at 73 points, with Newport Harbor Yacht Club of Newport Beach, California, third at 78 after a pair of second-place medal race finishes moved it up from seventh. Bayview Yacht Club of Detroit was fourth and Annapolis fifth.

Jamestown’s Conanicut Yacht Club finished 13th in the 23-club field, just outside the cut for the medal races. The host New York Yacht Club was seventh. Little Traverse Yacht Club of Harbor Springs, Michigan, received the Musto Corinthian Spirit Award.

The win sends Corinthian back to the Rolex New York Yacht Club Invitational Cup, where it finished second in 2023 and fourth in 2025. The Resolute Cup, a Corinthian championship for amateur crews from U.S. clubs, is sailed every two years in the club’s Sonars. The next edition is set for September 2028.
