Newport Classical has announced a new addition to its spring season, with acclaimed violinist Rachel Barton Pine and pianist Matthew Hagle performing at Rosecliff Mansion on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
The concert marks Pine’s Newport debut. The program will feature Brahms’ Sonata No. 5 in E-flat major, Amanda Maier’s Sonata in B minor, Clara Schumann’s Three Romances and Brahms’ Sonata No. 3 in D minor.
Pine has been described by The New York Times as “striking and charismatic” with “bravura technique and soulful musicianship,” and The Washington Post has placed her “in the top echelon” of today’s performers.

Her discography includes more than 40 recordings, and she has performed at venues including the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center and the Salzburg Festival. She regularly appears with orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert is part of Newport Classical’s Chamber Series, which continues through June. Upcoming performances include cellist Jonathan Swensen on Jan. 23, the Verona Quartet on Feb. 20, baritone Benjamin Appl performing Schubert’s “Die Winterreise” on March 13, and pianist James Zijian Wei on May 8.
The 2026 Newport Classical Music Festival is scheduled for July 2-19.
