The Newport Show wrapped up its 19th year last weekend at St. George’s School, drawing more than 1,000 visitors and adding to a cumulative fundraising total that has now surpassed $4.6 million for its two beneficiaries — the Newport Historical Society and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County.

The annual antiques and fine art showcase ran July 24-26, opening with a Gala Preview Party Friday evening before welcoming the public through Sunday. St. George’s ice rink was transformed into a custom gallery accommodating more than 40 dealer booths.

This year’s loan exhibition, “Collecting the Revolution: Reflections on Independence,” was curated by Fellows from the NHS’s Buchanan Burnham Summer Scholars in Public History Program and featured colonial and Revolutionary-era artifacts from Newport’s history — including a gold and onyx locket containing the hair of George and Martha Washington — timed to the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“I am continuously impressed by the beautiful and one-of-a-kind pieces our dealers bring to the show and by the remarkable support our community demonstrates, year after year,” said Anne Hamilton, chair of The Newport Show and secretary of the Newport Historical Society Board of Directors.

NHS Executive Director Rebecca Bertrand noted the show creates a rare opportunity for visitors to experience art, jewelry, antiques, and collectibles up close. “We once again created a magical space within St. George’s and, best of all, every ticket purchased supported the Newport Historical Society and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County,” she said.

“We are honored and grateful for the generosity shown by our community, made possible through this beloved annual tradition,” added Kelley Coen, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County.

This year’s sponsors included Savant Wealth Management, BankNewport, Behan Bros., and Horan Building Company. For more information, visit TheNewportShow.com.
