Charter Books in Newport is hosting New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean for a summer cocktail event on July 14, 2025, at Ocean Cliff in Newport.
The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m. and features MacLean discussing her new book, “These Summer Storms,” which is perfect for readers who love family drama and romance in a beautiful setting.
MacLean will chat with Kylie McCollough, founder of the Newport Ladies Book Club, followed by a Q&A and book signing.
Tickets cost $75 and include admission to the reception, a signed copy of the book, and hors d’oeuvres from Ocean Cliff. There’s a cash bar available, and guests can choose to have dinner at the Safari Room restaurant after the event.
“These Summer Storms,” hitting shelves on July 8, is a steamy novel about a wealthy New England family living on a private island off Rhode Island’s coast. The story follows the family’s challenges after their father’s death, including an inheritance game that shakes up their world.
MacLean co-hosts the weekly romance novel podcast, Fated Mates, and is part of the national leadership team for Authors Against Book Bans.
