The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) is currently recruiting students for the third cohort of its Multi-Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) pre-apprenticeship program, set to begin May 12 at the college’s Newport Campus. The MC3 program prepares students for high-demand careers in construction and the skilled trades through hands-on learning, industry-recognized credentials, and direct pathways to registered apprenticeships.
Offered in partnership with the Rhode Island Building and Construction Trades Council and Building Futures RI, CCRI’s MC3 program provides a solid foundation in construction industry essentials including safety, math, tools, blueprint reading, and industry awareness. Students also gain exposure to multiple trades and union apprenticeship opportunities, setting them up for long-term success in a variety of fields.
“Expanding the MC3 program to our Newport Campus opens doors to meaningful careers in the skilled trades for students on Aquidneck Island and across the East Bay,” said Dr. Rosemary Costigan, President of CCRI.
The MC3 program is offered at no cost to participants thanks to funding from the Real Jobs Rhode Island initiative and other workforce development resources. Classes are held in person, and students also complete professional skills training and receive support with job placement and next steps after graduation.
