The JPT Film & Event Center (The JPT) is kicking off a series of National Theater Live screenings on Wednesday, March 20, by bringing back the radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya, starring Andrew Scott from the British comedy-drama series Fleabag. Filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End, Vanya will play exclusively in cinemas in 2024.
National Theater Live brings the best of British theater to cinemas worldwide, allowing many people to view some of the most acclaimed and popular plays to hit the stage in the West End at a theater near them.

Vanya (Wednesday, March 20, 5:30 PM) – Adapted by Simon Stephens, directed by Sam Yates, and designed by Rosanna Vize, Vanya stars Andrew Scott as he brings multiple characters to life in Simon Stephens’ radical new version of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya. The Motive and the Cue (Wednesday, March 27, 6:30 PM) – Directed by Sam Mendes (The Lehman Trilogy, American Beauty on film), written by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), and designed by Es Devlin (The Crucible), The Evening Standard award-winning best new play follows Richard Burton, newly married to Elizabeth Taylor (Tuppence Middleton), is to play the title role in an experimental new Broadway production of Hamlet under John Gielgud’s exacting direction. Dear England (Wednesday, April 10, 6:30 PM) – The country that gave the world football has since delivered a painful pattern of loss. Why can’t England’s men win at their own game? With the worst track record for penalties in the world, Gareth Southgate knows he needs to open his mind and face up to the years of hurt to take the team and country back to the promised land. Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale, Shakespeare In Love) plays Gareth Southgate in this new play by James Graham (Best of Enemies, Sherwood).
