The Vanderbilt Roof Deck returns for the season (The Vanderbilt)

The Vanderbilt, Auberge Collection officially opens its Roof Deck for the season today, returning one of the city’s popular sunset spots to the rotation just in time for the first weekend of May.

Overlooking Newport Harbor and the Claiborne Pell Bridge, the Roof Deck offers wraparound views, handcrafted cocktails and a seasonal menu. It will be open Fridays through Sundays from 4 to 9 p.m., weather permitting.

The raw bar features West Passage oysters, Old Bay shrimp cocktail, ceviche, tuna tostada and a Grand Plateau.

Large plates include a lobster roll, octopus “alla gallega” with potato, lemon and pimenton, and a New England lobster boil with clams, corn, chorizo and potato. Margherita and pepperoni flatbread pizzas are also available.

For lighter fare, the menu offers marinated olives, Cape Cod kettle chips, pimento cheese and crackers, Angel Bakeries pita and hummus, iced crudités with buttermilk ranch, guacamole and chips, and a cheese plate with grapes, honey and chutney, with finocchiona available as an add-on.

Desserts include watermelon, paletas and chocolate chip cookies.

The Vanderbilt is located at 41 Mary St. in downtown Newport. The full menu is available at auberge.com/vanderbilt/the-roof-deck.
