Smoke House, the Southern-style barbecue restaurant on America’s Cup Avenue, has reopened for the summer season, bringing back its slow-smoked meats alongside a refreshed cocktail list and several new menu additions.

The restaurant, located at 31 Scott’s Wharf, is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

“Opening Smoke House officially kicks off the summer season for us,” said Corey Barreira, director of operations for Newport Restaurant Group. “From our fan-favorite BBQ to fresh new menu additions, we are eager to welcome guests back to downtown Newport once again.”

New appetizers this year include a chicken bacon ranch dip made with smoked chicken, cheddar and applewood bacon; lettuce wraps with BBQ-rubbed turkey and pickled onion; and cowboy caviar, a mix of roasted corn, black-eyed peas, peppers and jalapeño served with tortilla chips.

The kitchen has also added several sandwiches, among them a BBQ chicken grilled cheese with red-onion bacon jam on grilled sourdough, an eggplant pita with herb yogurt, pulled pork tacos and a cornmeal-crusted crispy redfish sandwich on brioche.

From the Southern Pride smoker, the restaurant continues to serve baby back ribs, beef brisket, pulled pork, half chicken, turkey and sausage, available with two sides or as part of a five-meat MOA-BBQ platter with three sides.

The bar program has expanded with new summer cocktails, including the Defying Mojo Jojo, made with tequila, hibiscus, triple sec and citrus, and Lavender Haze, a lavender-mint tea-infused vodka drink with elderflower and watermelon sour. Nonalcoholic options include Butterfly Skies and Summer Vibes.

Smoke House is part of the 100% employee-owned Newport Restaurant Group, whose Newport portfolio also includes Castle Hill Inn, The Mooring, 22 Bowen’s, Bar ‘Cino and La Vecina.
