Portsmouth Police Department announced on August 31st that they will begin removing unregistered mooring balls in seven days if corrective action is not taken.
Officials have tagged all mooring balls that have no identifying information/are not registered and consider them a hazard to navigation in the waters off Portsmouth.

The Portsmouth Police Department has identified several unregistered mooring balls in the waters surrounding Portsmouth. These mooring balls have no identifying information and are considered a hazard to navigation.
The mooring balls have been marked with a bright orange tag for the last three weeks. As of this time nobody has come forward to properly register these mooring balls. The Portsmouth Police Department will begin removing these mooring balls in seven days if corrective action is not taken. The mooring balls will be treated as abandoned property and disposed of according to RI General Law.
