St. Columba’s Chapel will present organist Diana Mukusheva in her first concert at the historic church on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m.
Mukusheva joined St. Columba’s in August as organist and choir director. The concert will feature works by J.S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn and Louis Vierne.
Mukusheva’s musical journey began at age 6 when she was accepted into a prestigious state school for gifted musicians in the Republic of Kazakhstan, then part of the Soviet Union. Over 11 years, she immersed herself in music, participating in cultural events, concerts, festivals and competitions before graduating with honors and earning a master’s degree in piano performance from the State Conservatory.
She moved to the United States in 2010 and developed a deep interest in historic instruments, specifically the organ and harpsichord. She began studies at Boston Organ Studio under Christian Lane and currently studies organ and harpsichord with Peter Sykes and 16th century composition with Cody Forrest.
A reception will follow the concert, giving guests an opportunity to meet Mukusheva.
Admission is $20, or $10 for students and children, payable by cash, check or credit card at the door. No reservations are required.
St. Columba’s Chapel is located at 55 Vaucluse Ave. Built between 1882 and 1886, the church was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2022. For more information, visit stcolumbaschapel.org.
