Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way is joining forces with Rhode Island’s Verdi Productions to create an authorized documentary about Rod Serling, the mastermind behind “The Twilight Zone.”
Directed by Jonah Tulis, the film has finished its main shooting in Rhode Island, with scenes captured in East Greenwich, Providence, and Wakefield.
DiCaprio and Chad A. Verdi are leading the production team, alongside Jennifer Davisson, Phillip Watson, Michelle Verdi, Chad Verdi Jr., Paul Luba, and Blake J. Harris. Serling’s daughters, Jodi and Anne, are on board as executive producers.
The documentary aims to give viewers an up-close look at Serling’s life and career as he crafted his groundbreaking TV shows.
Chad A. Verdi, who heads Verdi Productions, says, “We’re excited to wrap up another successful shoot with Appian Way in Rhode Island – our second project together in just three months.”
In the film’s reenactments, Tom DeNucci plays Serling, with scenes shot in black and white to match the iconic look of “The Twilight Zone.”
Steven Feinberg, who runs the Rhode Island Film & Television Office, adds, “Rod Serling continues to inspire us all. We’re proud that our local film and TV community is part of this project.”
This collaboration marks the second time Verdi Productions and Appian Way have teamed up in Rhode Island this year, following their work on the psychological thriller “Sleepwalker.”
Verdi Productions has also recently finished “The Roaring Game,” a sports comedy filmed in Rhode Island featuring Mickey Rourke and Rob Gronkowski.
