Middletown High School’s girls basketball team celebrated its seniors before a tough home game against Prout on Tuesday night.
The Islanders honor Abby DeSantis, Kayla Barboza, Georgia Cathers, Emma Geraghty, and Nora Haile in a special pre-game ceremony.
Despite trailing for most of the game, Middletown shows some fight in the fourth quarter. DeSantis, Geraghty, and Cathers each chip in with baskets during a late push. However, Prout maintained its grip on the lead, ultimately winning 51-21.
Photographer Justin Walker was on hand to capture the evening’s highlights, including the senior night festivities and Middletown’s fourth-quarter offensive burst.
The loss is a setback for the Islanders as they head into the final games of their regular season. While the scoreboard doesn’t reflect it, the team’s late-game effort shows they’re not going down without a fight.
