West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton will host its first public visitors’ weekend of 2024 on June 1 and 2 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The weekend will feature 100 rescued farm animals for visitors to meet and interact with.

The event will allow visitors to learn about the animals and the sanctuary, which works to provide lifelong care to dozens of species of farm animals rescued from cruelty, abuse, and neglect. West Place is a private nonprofit organization, and all proceeds from the event will go towards providing care for the rescued animals and the sanctuary.

The weekend event will also feature educational tours of the farm, a spring plant sale, and a renovated and expanded gift shop selling handmade crafts and upcycled farm materials.

Registration for the event is recommended, and tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Adult tickets can be purchased online for $24 or on the day of the event for $26. Tickets for children 12 and under are always discounted at $15. To register, visit the West Place Animal Sanctuary website.

According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), 10 million animals are abused to death in the US each year. The vast majority of these cases go unreported. Sanctuaries like West Place are dedicated to providing these animals with a safe and loving home, far away from the abuse they have experienced. While millions of animals are abused to death every year in the United States, the animals at West Place Animal Sanctuary in Tiverton, Rhode Island, are among the lucky ones.
