One-on-One Tech Help

Tech help is available to everyone, regardless of your skill level. Come with specific questions or we can just chat. There is no such thing as a stupid question. Call 401-625-6796 ext. 8 or visit http://tivertonlibrary.org to make an appointment. Our tech coordinator is also available at the Tiverton Senior Center on Thursdays from 10:00-11:00am.

Book Walk & Talk

Book Walk & Talk is back for Spring! Meet us by the picnic tables at Bulgarmarsh Park for a leisurely walk around the path and an informal chat about what you’ve been reading and watching lately. This program is weather-dependent. Please check the library’s Facebook page or visit http://tivertonlibrary.org to receive email updates and cancellations.

Weekly Watercolor Group

Whether you are a seasoned pro or still learning, you are welcome to come and work on your own watercolor painting projects. This is not a class, but a space to paint and socialize with fellow enthusiasts. Must bring your own projects and supplies.

Craft Circle

Knitters, quilters, crafters – whatever you make, come craft with us in the Community Room on the first Wednesday of every month! Socialize with fellow crafters, get project ideas, and share tips and advice. Must bring your own projects and supplies.

Monday, April 8th, 1:00-4:00pm

The Great Eclipse Get-Together

On Monday, April 8th, drop-in between 1:00 and 4:00pm to celebrate this “totality awesome” event at the library. Tiverton is in the 90% range, with the partial eclipse starting at 2:14pm and ending at 4:39pm. The official NASA broadcast will be on the big screen for safe sun viewing. Borrow a pair of solar eclipse glasses or a pinhole projector if you wish to view the event outside. Light eclipse-themed refreshments will be served. All ages are welcome. Please note: We do not have enough glasses for everyone who attends the event to have a pair, but we will have glasses and pinhole projectors that attendees may share amongst each other.

Join us in the Learning Center as we learn to crochet! All skill levels welcome! Open to teens and adults.

America and the Holocaust: Jim Crow Laws, Eugenics, and the March Toward Genocide in Nazi-Occupied Europe

This presentation provides a case study examining Nazi Germany and the United States during the 1930s, at a time when racism and eugenics were enshrined in law and practice. We will examine the national and historical contexts in which racism manifested in the two countries, and explore how the pseudoscience of eugenics as well as concerns about “racial purity” found its way into the laws of the United States and Nazi Germany. Presented by Barbara Wahlberg from the Rhode Island Holocaust and Genocide Education Commission.

Sakonnet Writers Group

This is a drop-in, prompt-driven writing group that supports writers of all levels. Membership is free, open to the public, and is appropriate for writers aged 18 and older. We look forward to sharing stories with you!

Bajah’s Book Club

In honor of National Poetry Month, we will be reading and discussing poetry from the book I Could Pee on This: And Other Poems by Cats by Francesco Marciuliano. All are welcome! Copies of the book are available at the Tiverton Public Library and Bajah’s Cat Café.

Art House Film Nights: Origami in the Garden

Join us on the third Tuesday of every month for a screening of a contemporary feature film or documentary and discussion focusing on artists, designers, photographers, and other creative fields. Presented in partnership with the Tiverton Arts Council. This month, we will watch Origami in the Garden (2021; Not Rated; 1h, 30min) – an art film, a love story, and the journey of two artists as they strive to spread peace and inspiration throughout the world through sculpture. Movie snacks and drinks will be provided.

Cross Stitching Group

Come and work on your own cross stitching projects while socializing with fellow enthusiasts! Must bring your own equipment and supplies.

Thursday, April 18th, 1:00-2:00pm, Union Public Library

Union Public Library Book Club

The Union Public Library Book Group will meet at the Union Public Library at 1:00pm on April 18th to discuss Lazy B: Growing Up on a Cattle Ranch in the American Southwest by Sandra Day O’Connor and H. Alan Day. Copies of the book can be picked up at both the Tiverton Public and Union Public Libraries. New members are always welcome!

Earth Day Garden Expo

Spring is in the air — join us for our second annual Earth Day Garden Expo! This FREE event will feature free seeds, soil testing, and advice from URI Master Gardeners, gardening books for sale, a raffle to benefit outdoor library programming, and activities for all ages, as well as experts on gardening, plants, and land preservation from around the East Bay. Movie Night: Barbie

Join us for a free movie, popcorn, and drinks every month. This month we will watch Barbie (2023; Rated PG-13; 1h, 56m). Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.
