Fort Adams Trust will present its annual “Music at the Fort” summer concert series for three Wednesday evenings starting Aug. 20, offering free live music and picnic opportunities on the North Lawn of the National Historic Landmark.

The series runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 20, Aug. 27 and Sept. 3, featuring local musicians performing against the backdrop of Narragansett Bay at sunset.

The lineup includes The Dope Things featuring Chelley Knight on Aug. 20, Honky Tonk Knights on Aug. 27, and The Ravers on Sept. 3.

“The Fort Adams Trust mission is to preserve and revitalize historic Fort Adams for the public’s benefit — and there is no better way than offering our community free local music on our lawn,” said Interim Executive Director Paul Marshall.

While admission is free, the trust suggests a $25 per person donation to support programming and preservation efforts at the fort. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, picnic dinners and friends to the family-friendly events.

The concert series is sponsored by multiple local businesses, with Hogan Associates and Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C. serving as presenting sponsors. BankNewport, Behan Bros, Joseph Gnazzo & Associates and Cordtsen Design Architecture are producing sponsors.

Additional spotlight sponsors include Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, TJ Brown Landscape Contractor, MarineMax, The UPS Store Newport, Newport Cannabis Co., RMA Environmental and Memorial Funeral Homes.

Fort Adams Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and activating Fort Adams. The organization offers tours, community programs and special events to maintain the historic site as part of Rhode Island’s heritage.
