The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce and its economic development division, Connect Greater Newport, will send teams of volunteers into businesses across Newport County on Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., to ask owners how business is going.
Volunteers will work in small teams, visiting businesses for roughly 15-minute in-person conversations. Participants include officials from all levels of government along with business and community leaders, according to the chamber.
“It is always a pleasure to get out in the community to hear directly from business leaders about how business is going and to make direct connections with government representatives, community leaders, and state officials in an effort to improve the regional business climate,” Erin Donovan-Boyle, the chamber’s president and CEO, said in a statement.
What the teams hear will be compiled into a report with recommendations, to be shared with participants, government officials, business leaders and the public, according to the chamber.
Business owners who are not visited can respond to the chamber’s 2026 Business Trends and Outlook Survey.
