A deer in distress got a helping hand from local emergency responders at Pasquiset Pond in Charlestown on Wednesday morning.
The rescue effort brought together several agencies, including the Charlestown Ambulance-Rescue Service, Charlestown Fire District, local police, and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management.
A brave firefighter ventured out onto the ice to secure the deer, while a team on shore worked to pull the exhausted animal to safety. The Charlestown Ambulance Rescue Service praised the teamwork on Facebook, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the operation.
Units from Cross’ Mills Fire Department and Charlestown Richmond Fire Department also joined in, showing how multiple agencies can come together in times of need.
Once the deer was safely on shore, most of the rescue teams wrapped up their work. DEM officials stuck around to keep an eye on the tired animal and make sure it was okay.
