Newport Classical has set six holiday concerts across two December weekends, with tickets going on sale Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Christmas with Cantus, Dec. 5 at 1 and 3:30 p.m., at the Newport Classical Recital Hall, 42 Dearborn St. The low-voice ensemble sold out both its 2024 performances here. The hour-long program mixes carols with contemporary choral works by composers including Eric Whitacre and Zanaida Robles.
Messiah at the Mansion, Dec. 6 at 1 and 3:30 p.m., at Rosecliff, 548 Bellevue Ave. A one-hour chamber version of Handel’s oratorio, including the Hallelujah Chorus, performed by Ensemble Altera and the Professional Choristers of the Choir School of Newport County under Christopher Lowrey. The performances are supported by Cynthia Sinclair’s philanthropy to the Choir School.
Classical Christmas with Frisson, Dec. 12 at 1 and 3:30 p.m., at Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn St. The 11-piece chamber orchestra plays selections from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite,” Vivaldi’s “Winter,” Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 and “Carol of the Bells,” with a sing-along.
