Maneet Chauhan, the “Chopped” judge and two-time “Tournament of Champions” winner, will headline the 21st Newport Mansions Wine & Food Festival at Rosecliff from Sept. 18 to 20.
Chauhan hosts the Vintner Dinner, a collaboration with festival Culinary Director Kevin Des Chenes, Adam Greenberg of Sparrow Restaurant in New Milford, Connecticut, and Adam Young of Sift Bake Shop in Mystic, named Best Baker in America by Food Network. Will Gilbert of WPRI’s “The Rhode Show” emcees. Chauhan also appears at Saturday’s Soiree du Vin.
Anyone planning around the brunches should look elsewhere on the schedule — both the new “Sips & Sounds” Saturday buffet brunch and the Sunday Jazz Brunch are already sold out.
The three days of seminars cover wine, bourbon, sake and rum, each led by a specialist and served with a tasting plate. New this year is a Riedel glassware session on how the glass changes the wine. Others include “Biggest, Baddest Reds of the World,” “Rare and Remarkable Boutique Wines,” “The Origins of Brut Champagne” and “The Art of Charcuterie.” The rum seminar is paired with chocolates.
Rhode Island producers in the pouring lineup include Greenvale Vineyards, Newport Vineyards and Sakonnet Vineyards, and local kitchens on the food side include Flora, Little Clam, Pescadou and Jo’s American Bistro.
