The Coe Street Co-Op will headline the next installment of NIMFest 2026 on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the King Park Gazebo, 125 Wellington Ave. The show is free and open to the public, weather permitting.
The Woonsocket-based five-piece plays a feel-good blend of classic rock influences and original songwriting, with a sound the band roots in the warmth and musicianship of the 1970s. The lineup is Benjamin Craig on vocals and guitar, Jake Prewett on bass, Eddie Cascella on lead guitar, Sam Skinner on keyboards and guitar, and Ethan Lyons on drums. Their debut full-length album is due on streaming platforms this summer.
Opening is Lily Rhodes, a Warren-based musician, songwriter, multimedia artist and music educator. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and the Brown Arts Institute, Rhodes writes genre-blending songs and counts Andy Shauf, Kurt Vile, Ween and Tyler Childers among her influences.
NIMFest — short for Newport Independent Music Festival — is presented by the New England Music Organization, a nonprofit supporting musicians across the region. The series is funded by The Hamilton Family Foundation and the City of Newport.
Concertgoers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. King Park is accessible by paddlecraft for kayakers and paddleboarders. Parking is limited and organizers suggest carpooling. Alcohol is not permitted in the park, and there are no rain dates.
Two shows remain after Sunday: Soul City on Aug. 16 and Groove Merchants with Olivia Nied on Aug. 23. More information is at NewEnglandMusic.org.
