Amy Goodman will be at the JPT in person for a Q and A after he screenings on June 27 & 28.

Journalist and “Democracy Now!” host Amy Goodman will appear in person at the Jane Pickens Theater in Newport for special screenings of the documentary “Steal This Story, Please!” from June 27 to 30, the theater announced.

Goodman will join director Tia Lessin for post-screening question-and-answer sessions following the showings on Friday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 28, at 2 p.m. Additional screenings are scheduled for June 29 and June 30, both at 3 p.m.

The film follows Goodman’s career in independent journalism, according to the theater. The release describes it as a portrait of Goodman’s work amplifying voices it says are often left out of corporate media and challenging systems of power.

The documentary was directed by Carl Deal and Tia Lessin, Academy Award-nominated filmmakers known for “Trouble the Water” and the Emmy-winning “The Janes.” The theater said the film traces the evolution of journalism in an era of media consolidation, political polarization and concerns over press freedom.

Goodman is the host and executive producer of “Democracy Now!,” an independent news program covering global issues, war, democracy, climate and human rights.

Tickets and information are available through the Jane Pickens Theater box office and at www.janepickens.com.
