Norma V. Aballo, 94, a Tiverton resident since 1948, died peacefully on August 24, 2026 surrounded by her family. Born in Portsmouth, RI on September 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Jane (Greaves) Raposa.
Norma worked for several years as a young woman in the Fall River Knitting Mills as a stitcher. She enjoyed her second career as a sales associate at the former Apex store in the Swansea Mall. Above all, she loved her kids, her cats, and an extensive collection of Barbie dolls and Beanie Babies. In her free time, there were adventures to the Poconos, and regular trips to the Newport Grand and more recently to the Tiverton Bally’s Casino. In the last few years, she found a new home at Anchor Bay, where Norma enjoyed great friendships and Bingo nights.
Norma is survived by her children; Karen Manchester (Joseph Moniz) of Tiverton, Raymond Aballo of Murphy, North Carolina, Wayne Aballo (Lise-Anne) of Cumberland, RI, Glen Aballo (Sandra) of Tiverton, five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter.
Norma is preceded in death by her son Michael Aballo, her former husband Edmond “Mike” R. Aballo; and all of her siblings, Manuel and Edward Raposa, Mary Couturier, Florence Riley, Theresa Blair and Dorothy Beam.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 from 10:00-11:00am in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Funeral services will follow in the Connors Funeral Home on Friday at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton.
