The National Sailing Hall of Fame will begin accepting nominations Wednesday for its Class of 2026, inviting sailing enthusiasts nationwide to submit candidates through Dec. 31.
The announcement follows the hall’s 15th anniversary and class induction ceremony, which brought the total number of honored sailing legends to 147.
“Our process is unique in that it begins with nominations from the broader sailing community,” said Spike Lobdell, selection committee chair. “This ensures we consider the wide range of talents and contributions that strengthen sailing at a national level.”
Nominations must be submitted exclusively online at thesailingmuseum.org. Candidates should demonstrate extraordinary skill, commitment and meaningful positive influence on the sailing community, according to criteria established by the selection committee.
Eligible nominees include pioneering sailors, innovative designers and dedicated visionaries who have left an enduring imprint on sailing’s history. Nominations must be complete and include nominator contact details when submitted. Additional materials will not be accepted, and materials sent directly to staff, board members or selection committee members will not be considered.
Gary Jobson, co-president and dual America’s Cup/National Sailing Hall of Fame inductee, emphasized the importance of preserving sailing’s legacy.
“Through nominations and inductions, the National Sailing Hall of Fame makes certain that the trailblazers throughout time will be remembered as the legends who inspire tomorrow,” Jobson said.
The Class of 2026 induction ceremony will take place Sept. 16-17, 2026, in Newport.
