Middletown High School’s Class of 2025 celebrated its big day with a graduation ceremony at Gaudet Field on Saturday, June 14.
The event honored 139 graduates and featured speeches from school officials, students, and community leaders.
Principal Donna Sweet welcomed the graduates and delivered the Principal’s address, with Madelyn King delivering the Collective Student Voice and Junheng Zhang delivering the Voice of the Graduate.
The ceremony included musical performances by the school’s chorus and band. The chorus sang “Homeward Bound” by Marta Keen, while the band played highlights from “La La Land,” conducted by senior Elizaveta Swann.
Town council president and retired U.S. Army Col. Paul Rodrigues gave the guest address.
“Pomp and Circumstance” by Edward Elgar served as both the processional and recessional music, with Olivia Kestler performing the latter.
Other key participants included Lila DiMatteo, who led the Pledge of Allegiance, Allison Ceglarski, who introduced the Collective Student Voice, and School Committee member Wendy Heaney, as well as Superintendent William Niemeyer, who offered greetings.
Lawrence Connell delivered a military honorary address, while Charles Greengrass introduced the voice of the graduates.
The ceremony wrapped up with the presentation of diplomas and the turning of the tassel, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for these new graduates.
