Middletown Town Council’s Special Meeting, which was scheduled for Saturday, to discuss regionalization with the Newport City Council, has been cancelled. “A special meeting Saturday on school regionalization called by the #middletownri Town Council has been cancelled after local leaders learn their counterparts in Newport won’t be able to attend,” the Town of Middletown shared on Facebook.

According to a public notice posted by Middletown, the Middletown Town Council is set to host a special joint meeting on Saturday (May 10) for a “Joint Meeting with the Newport City Council, re: Regionalization.”

The public notice was posted earlier today (May 7)

The council is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. at Middletown Town Hall, 350 East Main Road.

Newport hadn’t posted a public notice about the meeting as of Wednesday evening.

People can attend the meeting in person or join remotely via phone or webinar. To access the meeting, the public can call toll-free numbers or use a Zoom link provided in the notice.
