Centreville Bank held a groundbreaking ceremony today (April 21) for its first full-service branch in Middletown, Rhode Island, at 160 East Main Road, marking the Bank’s planned 23rd location andits first ground-up construction since 2020.

This new full-service location is expected to open by late fall 2025. Centerville Bank already serves customers on Aquidneck Island through its loan production office in Middletown, located at 1171 Aquidneck Ave., and its Newport branch, situated at 580 Thames St.

The new Middletown location will include a state-of-the-art banking center, drive-up teller and ATM lanes, private offices for financial consultations, and a welcoming lobby designed with customer experience in mind.

“Breaking ground on our second full-service branch on Aquidneck Island is truly a milestone moment for Centreville Bank” said Lee Merrill, EVP, Chief Lending Officer. “This branch represents one of five branches throughout Rhode Island that Centreville Bank is planning to open in 2025, and we’re excited to continue our expansion with this brand-new build in Middletown.”

As part of today’s groundbreaking ceremony, representatives from Centreville Bank also celebrated a topping-off of soil, marking the beginning of construction on the East Main Road location. Customers interested in opening an account or exploring Centreville Bank’s full suite of services are encouraged to visit the nearby Newport branch at 580 Thames Street where the team is available to assist during the Middletown branch’s construction.
