The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) announced today that the eastbound on-ramp from Jamestown to the Newport Pell Bridge will open in its completed configuration later today (Wednesday, February 26).

The new configuration will include a ramp acceleration lane, making it easier for drivers to merge onto the bridge and reducing congestion at the on-ramp, according to RITBA.

“We are excited to complete this stage of the project and know that it will help ease congestion for Jamestown residents and commuters,” said Lori Caron Silveira, Executive Director of RITBA in a statement “As we continue to upgrade and improve the area around the old toll plaza, we appreciate everyone’s patience and consideration.”
