Drivers crossing the Newport Pell Bridge should expect lane closures in both directions beginning Monday morning and running overnight into Tuesday, according to the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority.

The westbound right lane will close at 7 a.m. Monday and reopen at 3 a.m. Tuesday. The eastbound left lane will close at 9 a.m. Monday and reopen at the same time.

Motorists should allow extra travel time, reduce speed and use caution approaching and traveling through the work zone, the authority said.

Similar closures are planned for the following week. RITBA said specific dates and times will be announced once confirmed.
