Ahead of some winter weather, Tiverton and Portsmouth Police Departments have put parking bans in effect for Thursday, February 6.

Portsmouth’s parking ban will be in effect from 7 am to 7 pm on Thursday.

Tiverton’s parking ban will be in effect from 5 am to 5 pm on Thursday.

As of 6:10 pm on Wednesday, there were no other parking bans in Newport County.

As of 5:46 pm on Wednesday, the National Weather Service was forecasting the following weather for Newport on Thursday;

Rain, snow, and sleet, becoming all rain after 2pm, then gradually ending. High near 36. Southeast wind 9 to 15 mph becoming east in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 34. Southwest wind 9 to 14 mph.
