Newport Police Department, Newport, RI

Newport is expanding its search for new police officers by extending the application deadline to Friday, February 7. This move aims to bring in more candidates for entry-level positions.

The city’s Human Resources Department pushed back the original February 4 cutoff to give potential applicants extra time to submit their materials.

To be considered, you need to be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants should also be ready to take part in a Physical Fitness Assessment and written exam, which will be run by Fit2ServeRI.com.

Newport isn’t just looking for newcomers to the force. They’re also accepting applications from certified officers and those with out-of-state certification until March 10, 2025.

If you’re interested in joining Newport’s police force, you can find more details and download an application at www.CityofNewport.com/Jobs.
