The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) is alerting drivers to upcoming lane closures and travel advisories for Sunday, Feb. 23, to Saturday, March 1, 2025. These changes will impact several major bridges and routes in the area.

On the Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge, expect multiple lane closures throughout the week:

  • Eastbound right lane closure from Feb. 24 to Feb. 28, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily
  • At the former toll plaza:
  • Westbound alternating lane closures at the former toll plaza from Feb. 24 to Feb. 28, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Eastbound alternating lane closures at the former toll plaza during the same period, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Route 138 Connector will have a westbound right lane closure on Feb. 26 and Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Good news for some commuters: RITBA reports no planned lane closures for the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge, Mount Hope Bridge, and Sakonnet River Bridge during this time.

RITBA reminds drivers that this schedule may change. To stay up-to-date, check their Real Time Traffic Updates page at http://www.ritba.org/travel-alerts.
