The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center (The JPT) is planning an exciting week of Newport Winter Festival events, with live music, iconic films, and local craft beer on tap. 

The festivities begin Wednesday, February 19, with a special screening of Becoming Led Zeppelin, followed by a one-of-a-kind live concert on Thursday, February 20, showcasing immense local talent and supporting emerging Rhode Island music. The celebration wraps up Saturday, February 22, with John Carpenter’s The Thing, paired with a pre-film beer tasting from Rejects Beer.

“From legendary films on the big screen to a showcase of Rhode Island’s incredible musical talent—paired with locally brewed craft beer—Winterfest at The JPT is all about bringing together unforgettable experiences that highlight both local artistry and cinematic excellence,” said Alex Whitney, General Manager at The JPT. “We’re thrilled to celebrate film, music, and community in one of Newport’s most historic venues.”

Becoming Led Zeppelin (Wednesday, February 19, 7:30 PM) 

This film explores the origins of this iconic group and their meteoric rise in just one year against all odds. Powered by awe-inspiring, psychedelic, never-before-seen footage, performances, and music, Bernard MacMahon’s experiential cinematic odyssey captures Led Zeppelin’s creative, musical, and personal origin story. North End Entertainment Presents: Three Bands – One Night (Thursday, February 20, 7:00 PM) 

Liven up a winter evening with this live concert, featuring three incredible Rhode Island bands on The JPT stage. 

  • Dan Burke and The Royal Treatment – A dynamic five-piece soul and R&B band with a funk-infused sound and electrifying stage presence. Recently released tracks “My Pleasure” and “Keep Em Cold” are out now. www.DBRTBAND.com

The Thing (4K Restoration) (Saturday, February 22, 8:30 PM)

In theme with its frigid Arctic setting, join The JPT for this sci-fi/horror classic, featuring a pre-film beer tasting with Rejects Winter Ale and IPA. Experience John Carpenter’s The Thing on the big screen in stunning 4K restoration—renowned for its groundbreaking practical effects that still outshine most CGI today and an eerie score by Ennio Morricone. Doors Open & Beer Tasting @ 7:45, Movie @ 8:30.
