The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) is letting drivers know about some upcoming lane closures and travel updates for the week of Jan. 19-25, 2025. These changes will affect several bridges in the area.

If you’re heading west on the Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge, expect some lane closures throughout the week. On Friday, Jan. 24, the right lane will be shut down from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Also, from Tuesday, Jan. 21 to Friday, Jan. 24, there will be alternating right and left lane closures at the old toll plaza, again from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

For those using the Mount Hope Bridge, keep an eye out for shifting lane closures on Jan. 23 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Good news for anyone traveling on the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge, Route 138 Connector, or Sakonnet River Bridge – there aren’t any planned lane closures for these routes during this time.

Just a heads up – RITBA says this schedule might change. To stay in the loop, check out the Real Time Traffic Updates page at http://www.ritba.org/travel-alerts or follow @RIEZPASS on X (what used to be Twitter).
