Naval Station Newport

Starting February 3, Naval Station Newport will begin a two-week security exercise. The drills, known as Exercise Citadel Shield and Exercise Solid Curtain 2025, will run through February 14.

These exercises bring together Navy security forces, installation fire and emergency services, and local first responders. They’re designed to improve coordination and readiness.

If you’re in the area, you might notice more activity than usual. This includes local law enforcement personnel and vehicles heading to the installation. Don’t worry – it’s all part of the planned exercises.

The naval station will use its mass notification systems during the drills. They’re asking the public to follow any instructions or messages broadcast during this time.

In a Facebook post on January 28, Naval Station Newport thanked the community in advance for their cooperation and support. They understand these exercises might cause some disruption but appreciate everyone’s understanding as they work to keep the installation secure.
