A 24-year-old woman from Fall River, Massachusetts is facing DUI charges after being arrested by Portsmouth police on January 24. The incident, which involved a child passenger, occurred on East Main Road near Walgreens around 7:22 p.m.

Police stopped Dara Dupre for speeding and noticed several signs of alcohol impairment, including a strong smell of alcohol on her breath. Officers found a 2-year-old child in a safety seat in the back of her white Volkswagen Tiguan.

After failing field sobriety tests at the scene, Dupre was arrested. She later failed a chemical breath test at the police station.

Dupre now faces charges of first-offense DUI and first-offense DUI with a child under 13 as a passenger. She also received a speeding citation.

The Portsmouth Police Department shared information about the arrest on social media the following day, highlighting the presence of a child in the vehicle during the incident.

Dupre is set to appear for formal arraignment at the 2nd Division District Court on January 30.
