Easton's Beach

The City of Newport, in conjunction with the Newport Beach Commission and its consulting team, is inviting the public to a special forum to help plan for the future of Easton’s Beach.

The special listening session, scheduled for Thursday, January 30th, from 5-7 p.m. at the Newport Public Library, is the first of a series of opportunities for community members to share their thoughts on the future design of Easton’s Beach.

For those unable to attend, the City also collects feedback through a dedicated project website at www.CityofNewport.com/FutureBeach.

As one of the City’s most popular attractions, Easton’s Beach has been a public recreation area for generations of Newporters and visitors alike.

However, over the years, the site has experienced considerable development and destruction. Reimagined time and again, Easton’s Beach has had many iterations, at one point featuring a rollercoaster, saltwater pool, boardwalk, and an ornate spired pavilion similar to those found along the coastlines of New York and New Jersey.

What’s remained constant is that Mother Nature has always had other designs, with storm after storm taking its toll and reshaping the landscape and amenities Newporters have enjoyed.

With the snack bar and carousel building recently taken down and funding approved as part of the 2024 infrastructure bond, the City is again looking to chart a new vision for the beach, with sea level rise and resilience at its core.

If you’re interested in learning more about the current state of the beach and would like to help shape its future, visit www.CityofNewport.com/FutureBeach to get involved.
