Newport Pride is gearing up for its first Autumn Weekend, set to take place from November 8-10, 2024. This three-day event in Newport promises a mix of community engagement, entertainment, and Pride celebrations.
The weekend’s lineup includes a Welcome Party, the Newport Pride Velvet Ball, and a Sunday Brunch, all designed to bring together the LGBTQ+ community and allies.
Dani Cano Restrepo, Executive Director of Newport Pride, emphasizes, “Everyone’s invited to join our family-friendly Newport Pride Autumn Weekend. Your support helps fund our year-round programs and events.”
Kicking off the festivities is a free Welcome Party on November 8 at Newport Craft Brewing & Distilling Co. From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., guests can enjoy live bands, a movie screening, and a variety of drinks.
The highlight of the weekend, the Newport Pride Velvet Ball, takes place on November 9 at the Ochre Court mansion. The event will feature classical music, Samba dance performances, and a DJ. During the ball, Daniel Cano Restrepo and Sean P. O’Connor will receive the Newport Neighbor Award for their work in making Newport County more inclusive for the LGBTQ+ community.
Wrapping up the weekend is a Sunday Brunch on November 10 at the Newport Playhouse & Cabaret Restaurant, showcasing performances from local and well-known talent.
