Daffodils are blooming! Photo by jasonmichalskiphotography

Non-profit organizations in Newport can brighten their properties this spring with a free sack of 250 daffodil bulbs from Newport in Bloom. The bulbs, which will bloom next spring and every year after, are being offered to schools, churches, and other non-profits in the city.

Organizations can claim up to four sacks, totaling 1,000 bulbs, by emailing newportinbloom.ri@gmail.com before the end of business on Wednesday, November 6. The email should include the organization’s name, address, and the number of sacks requested.

Bulbs can be picked up at the Newport Public Works Garage, 80 Halsey St., on Thursday and Friday, November 7 and 8, from 10 AM to 3 PM.

Newport in Bloom reminds organizations to plant the bulbs before the ground freezes, typically in December. The total supply is limited to 5,000 bulbs.
