A natural gas pipeline maintenance operation is being conducted at the Algonquin Gas Transmission, LLC meter station site at 13 Old Mill Lane in Portsmouth from Oct. 7-16, during which time the controlled venting of natural gas may occur intermittently between 7 am and 7 pm, the town announced.

Company representatives will be on site during the work, which may cause noise and/or odors, according to the town.

The maintenance will pose no danger to persons or property in the area, the town said. Local police, fire and municipal officials in Portsmouth and Middletown have been notified of the operation, as is standard practice, the town said.

Local fire and police officials will also be notified shortly before and at the conclusion of the gas release, the town said.
