A historic landmark on Newport’s Ocean Drive has sold for $9.935 million, making it the second-highest sale in Newport this year, according to data from the Rhode Island Multiple Listing Service.

David Huberman and Mike Sweeney of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty represented the sellers, while Lee Scura of Residential Properties ​

Originally designed by renowned architect Irving Gill as a carriage house and boathouse for the adjacent estate – “Wildacre” – “The Playhouse” was masterfully rebuilt to the highest standards by its current owners, Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty says about the property in a press release.

“Set on Prices Neck Cove on Ocean Avenue, this architectural gem combines historic charm with modern luxury and state-of-the-art amenities, including geothermal heating and cooling, a saltwater pool and spa, and a gourmet kitchen.
