The U.S. Naval War College is set to host its seventh annual “Cardines Classic” Army-Navy baseball game, transporting spectators back to the World War I era on Sept. 20, 2024, at historic Cardines Field in downtown Newport, Rhode Island.

This free event, open to the general public, features students from the Naval War College donning period-accurate uniforms to recreate the classic rivalry between the Army and Navy on the diamond.

The gates will open at 4:30 pm, and the first pitch is scheduled for 5:30 pm at the field at 20 America’s Cup Ave.

The “Cardines Classic” has become a beloved tradition in Newport, drawing baseball enthusiasts and history buffs alike to witness this unique blend of America’s pastime and military heritage.

Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to soak in the atmosphere and perhaps catch a glimpse of the players warming up in their vintage gear.
