572 Newport voters have participated in the Statewide Primary so far
According to the Rhode Island Turnout Tracker, as of 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 572 Newport voters had participated in the 2024 State Primary thus far.
With just a day to go until the Rhode Island State Primary, hundreds of Newport voters have already voted via mail ballot or early in person.
According to the Rhode Island Turnout Tracker, as of 4:30 p.m. on Monday, September 9, 572 Newport voters had participated in the 2024 State Primary thus far.
The Board of Elections has received 246 mail ballots from Newport Voters, while 326 have early voted.
Voters in Newport’s Ward 1, 2, and 3 will find on their ballot for the Democratic Primary the choice between incumbent Sheldon Whitehouse & Michael J. Costa for Senator in Congress and on the Republic Primary the choice between Patricia Morgan and Raymond T. McKay for Senator in Congress.
Voters in Newport’s Ward 1 will also find a race for Non-Partisan Council Ward 1 on their Democratic and Republican Primary Ballots. They will choose between Hugo J. DeAscentis, Jr., Ellen M. Pinnock, and Charles F. Pattavina.
According to the Rhode Island Department of State, Newport has 13,714 active-status registered voters. Approximately 45% (6,224) are registered Democrats, 42% are Unaffiliated, and 12% (1,673) are registered Republicans.
Across the state, 21,693 voters have turned out to vote – 9,721 via mail ballots and 11,972 via early voting. That’s approximately a 2.8% statewide voter turnout.
Officials in those traditionally four early-voting states are now positioning themselves to get top billing nearly two years before the Democratic National Committee solidifies the order. Others may make a play, too.
Late in the recent presidential campaign, Kamala Harris made a prediction whose outcome was a sure thing. Offering a challenge to voters, she said, “It’s either going to be Donald Trump or me sitting behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office.”
Gender disparagement, always with us, provides a reason for appreciating the impending anniversary of how one woman overcame it and won enduring fame in the process.
