The Rhode Island Public Transportation Authority (RIPTA) will operate a Sunday/holiday service schedule on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, the agency announced in a press release. All RIPTA offices will close on Monday, Sept. 2, in observance of the holiday.

The Newport Ferry Shuttle will also switch to a fall schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024. The agency said that on Monday, Sept. 2, all offices will be closed, except for the Newport Transportation Center, in recognition of the holiday. The RIPTA Ticket Window in the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center and the Customer Service Call Center will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. However, the RIPTA Customer Service Kiosk in the Newport Transportation Center will be open on Monday, Sept. 2 from 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm.

According to the RIPTA, Flex Services will not be available on Monday, with the exception of Route 203, which will run on a Sunday schedule without timepoint stops from 10 am to 5 pm. The Flex Service reservation line will also not be staffed on Monday. Those needing a ride on those days are urged to call the RIDE reservation line (401-461-9760) before Sept. 2 to schedule a trip.
