The Newport City Council will meet in an executive session at 5:45 pm on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, to discuss litigation between the City of Newport and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.

“The City Council will discuss in Executive Session issues related to the litigation “City of Newport v. Rhode Island Department of Transportation, by and through Peter Alviti, its Director” (NM2022-0232) involving settlement of the same,” a meeting notice from the City states.

The Newport City Council will meet in the ground floor conference room at Newport City Hall, 43 Broadway.

The executive session will be held before the regular council meeting, which is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
