Those who use the Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge daily should take note of some lane closures scheduled for August 26 – 29, 2024.
The Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority has released the following weekly construction updates;
Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge
Westbound Right Lane Closure- 8/26 to 8/29- 7 am to 2:30 pm
Eastbound Right Lane Closure- 8/26 to 8/29- 9 am to 3 pm
Eastbound Left Lane Closure- 8/28 and 8/29- 9 am to 3 pm
Gantry at Toll Plaza:
Overnight: Removal of old toll gantry- beginning 8/26 at 8 pm and ending 8/27 at 1 am, which will include an Eastbound right lane closure and periodic rolling traffic stoppages.
Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge
There are currently no lane closures planned for the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge.
Route 138 Connector
Westbound Left Lane Closure- 8/26- 7 am to 11 am
Eastbound Left Lane Closure- 8/26- 11 am to 3 pm
Mount Hope Bridge
Shifting Lane Closures- 8/30- 3 am to 4:30 am
Sakonnet River Bridge
There are currently no lane closures planned for the Sakonnet River Bridge.
